Yep, as expected, it's a 4080 with a price cut. Still overpriced (like everything else,) but better than nothing.

Like I expected, this is basically Nvidia recuding the price. Very little performance gain, if at all. At least at this price - even though it is still a ludicrous price by all accounts - it finally makes (very little) sense. Not gonna lie though, If I were playing RT/PT games I'd buy it.

Dribble
Not really super - it's just a 4080 with a bit of an overclock.

Undying
I never seen a tech reviewers on YT didnt even bother with the bechmarks.

mackintosh
No real reason to do them. It's between 1% to 3% nearly across the board. That's almost run to run variance in some games. As expected, this was always going to be just a price adjustment.

I am amused. Surely the 4080 super could have been skipped in favor of a price drop?

mackintosh
No, because that would be Nvidia admitting they made a mistake.

The performance per watt seems amiss. It's barely any faster than the regular 4080 in most tests yet the peak power draw is 20% higher. Perhaps average power draw is a little better but I don't really get how this ranked so high.

Well this was a waste of everyone's time. Except Nvidia, who get influx of renewed free marketing from all Youtubers and other reviewers.

Absolutely super !
2-3% extra performance, the best refresh ever ! It even beat Intel with their 5% annual uplift refreshes.

no such thing as bad publicity, so long as there name is always throw aroundo_O
4xxx series card are ALL good card , but as same time most them are all BS prices that bought anyway, they could just make 4090 and only 4090 for price it is made there money back and then some

Every card has its niche. If you want top performance in raster and in RT/PT games at 1440p you can't go wrong with this. The issue is at this price we expect it to perform in 4K RT/PT as well. I guess neither Nvidia nor AMD agree.

It's the first day of availability so things will get more normal through the week, but right now, at least here, the 4080 is sold at 4080S MSRP, and the 4080S is sold at 4080 MSRP. Stores want to get rid of their 4080 stock, and that's a way to do it, I guess.
lol.

Three less VRM phases on the Super. I wonder how much this affects OC-ing if any?

Thanks a lot for the review. I like really how much cleaner this time the difference is from 4070 super ti vs 4080 super vs 4090. I remember when ftw3 ultra 3080ti came out there was absolute no reason to go for 3090 when it comes to gaming. here is this 4080 super in the middle and that across all tests / titles. Nice nice!
if i would upgrade from 3080 ti ftw3 ultra i would go eazy with 4070 super ti BUT when i see how hardware improves, i‘ll just pass 4xxx series 40x0 series and wait for the next gen to upgrade 🙂

In the UK the 4080 is more expensive than the 4080S 😱.
