Doesn't appear to be out yet, did they provide a date? Hopefully it's this week.

Tomorrow

4070 nicely behind 3080. I'm not impressed, Jensen.

What did you expect from this sob?

I guess we can expect new nVidia drivers tomorrow to.

And the 4070 Super is about 20% ahead. I'm guessing the smaller 36MB L2 cache is what's hurting the 4070 most, plus the reduced CUDA core count. This seems like a pretty memory bandwidth-intensive benchmark.

Not only, it is without RT, the 4070 is a bit step back, compared to 30*0 serie, on that exercise to have more powerfull RT (on other hand at this level of normal rendering, it is not so important).

I'm missing the RTX 4070Ti and 4070Ti Super in the graphs. Apart from that it seems that my RTX 3090 is still outperforming the RTX 4070 Super by quite a healthy margin. So not time yet for an upgrade, let's see what the RTX 50xx series brings to the table.

Is it just me making up stuff, or has Vulkan kind of died after Stadia failed? Sad.

It still alive and well on the Linux side thanks to DXVK and also emulators. As of games releases with it... yeah. But, doubt it was becasue of Stadia

As @MerolaC said, far from it. Vulkan is quite comprehensive (I'm not sure there's anything DX12 has that Vulkan doesn't) and performance is excellent. And on the note of DXVK, Intel decided to swap their Arc GPU drivers to use DXVK in Windows for older DX versions, since Microsoft's translation layer was apparently (and unsurprisingly) garbage. So, if you're playing older games on Arc, you're using Vulkan.

Oh, I know. My main OS is Linux. I was referring to new games not using it anymore. When Stadia was a thing, even Red Dead 2 used it. Vulkan has always worked better than DX12 for me in any game that supported both perf-wise. DXVK is not a solution. It's a stutter fest unless you only use Steam to download compiled shaders. And no solution for the problem on Windows to begin with (which I dual boot to to play most games.)

Hilbert Hagedoorn:

Steel Nomad is designed to be a new generation of graphics benchmarks, developed to use a non-ray-traced DirectX 12 API. It focuses on delivering advanced geometry and raster lighting capabilities. We test and review the DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs to check out how well they behave on the latest gaming graphics cards. Read the article here
I noticed two small errors Hilbert. On the first page there is this sentence - "To your right side, Steel Nomad, and to the right the output render of Steel Nomad Light." I would guess one of those should the left side. On the second page the first sentence : "We grabbed a batch of graphics cards and will not start our test session." I guess the "not" should be "now." Thanks for the review.

Kinda, which is a shame as I believe it to be the much better API between it and DX12. Other than ID tech I don't remember anyone else really pushing for it as their main API and it was just thrown in as an after thought. But it is still vital for the Linux community, without it gaming on Linux right now would still be a joke and Steam Deck would never have existed.
